Pianist Christian Wilm Müller studied with Volkmar Lehmann (Weimar) and Oleg Maisenberg (Vienna/Stuttgart). Other important teachers of his included Detlef Kraus (Germany), Menahem Pressler (USA) und Ferenc Rados (Hungary).
He has received numerous awards and stipends for both solo and chamber music work (Ustinad Labem, Deutscher Musikwettbewerb, Allianz-Prize of the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, German National Merit Foundation, work stay at the Cité Internationale des Arts Paris etc.).
Concert tours as a soloist and chamber musician – often as the pianist of the Liszt-Trio Weimar – have taken him throughout Europe as well as to Australia, Iran, Japan and South Korea; he performed with the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin, the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra, the Baden State Orchestra Karlsruhe, the Schleswig-Holstein-Symphony Orchestra, the orchestras of Gotha/Suhl, Meiningen und Thessaloniki (Greece), as well as for the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, the Rheingau-Festival, Oleg-Kagan-Festival, Beethoven-Fest Sutri (Italy) and the festival of the Arts Weimar. He has given concerts with members of the Berlin Comic Opera, the NHK Symphony Orchestra Tokyo and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
Concert recordings and radio/ television productions (NDR, MDR, Bartók-Radio Budapest, DW, 3Sat, NHK Japan) and a number of CD recordings are numerous. The second CD of the Liszt-Trio Weimar, which includes the piano trios of Mauricio Kagel and Alfred Schnittke and was released in 2006 by æon (Paris), has been honored with the Coup de Coeur der Académie Charles Cros. In 2012, spectral will release a solo album with the late works op.116 through op.119 of Johannes Brahms.
At the FRANZ LISZT School of Music Weimar, Christian Wilm Müller teaches piano and piano chamber music. He was appointed Professor in 2007. Since 2008, he is the artistic director of the Center for Particularly Talented Young Musicians of this school. Christian Wilm Müller teaches piano and chamber music courses in Europe, the USA, Japan and South Korea.
